The Embassy’s booth featured Guyanese craft, local products, traditional garb, photographs, books and information material. Among the locally manufactured goods exhibited were sauces, condiments, coffee and sugar. Fresh produce from Guyana that is readily accessible in China was also on display. Further, cultural performances were held during which Guyanese colleagues sang some national and folk songs.

About 75 countries participated in the event.

On 27 June in the year 1972, Guyana became the first English-speaking Caribbean country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, a relationship which continues to grow in mutual areas of interest.
