Regional International Organization for Migration Officials Call on Foreign Minister

12 Jan

Regional Director for Central America, North America and the Caribbean of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mr. Marcelo Pisani (center), accompanied by  Regional Coordination Officer for the Caribbean and IOM Chief of Missions in Guyana, Mr. Robert Natiello (l), recently paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Carl Greenidge, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs (r).

During the courtesy call, they discussed collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IOM, specifically within the framework of Guyana’s Diaspora Engagement activities, the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration,  as well as opportunities for possible future collaboration.

In 2011, Guyana became a full member of the IOM. Since then, Guyana and the IOM have collaborated on projects such as the “Go-See Visits 2017”, which allowed entrepreneurs to visit Guyana and explore investment opportunities, as well as the drafting of the Diaspora Engagement Strategy and Action Plan.
