Gomes and the President of IFAD, Lennart Bage, signed an agreement at the IFAD headquarters in Rome on July 24, 2008 for giving assistance to farmers to diversify their agricultural production. Statement by the Honourable Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guyana at the Sixth UK/Caribbean Forum, London, July 15 - 16, 2008. Read Here | Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett has advised work study students attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pay careful attention to their studies now that they were approaching the world of work. The seven (7) students, coming from secondary schools in Georgetown, spent one (1) month in training at the Ministry in the Personnel and Information Departments; the Library, the Multilateral and Global Affairs Department, and the Administrative Department. They represented the South Ruimveldt Secondary, St. Joseph’s High, the new Campbelville Secondary, Richard Ishmael Secondary, Queen’s College, Bishop’s High and St. Rose’s High School. Minister Rodrigues charged the students to go as far as they can academically, and make qualifications their priority now that they are young. The Minister issued Certificates of Appreciation to the students at a small reception held in their honour. | |
