The first Non-Resident Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency Mohammad Ziauddin, today presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency David Granger, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
Prior to accreditation, Ambassador Ziauddin met with the Honourable Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl B. Greenidge. They discussed areas of possible cooperation between the two countries.
His Excellency Mohammad Ziauddin began his career in Foreign Affairs in 1974. His previous posts include Ambassador at Large for the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, the Honourable Sheikh Hasina, Director General of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Protocol to the Government of Bangladesh, Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
The appointment of H.E Mohammad Ziauddin will serve to strengthen ties between Guyana and Bangladesh and create new areas of collaboration that will benefit both countries.
Guyana and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations on March 24, 1972. Since then, the two countries have collaborated at the multilateral level, in institutions such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Commonwealth.
