His Excellency President David Granger during an official State Visit to the Republic of Chile held bilateral talks with his counterpart, Her Excellency President Michelle Bachelet which saw the inking of the Open Skies Air Services Agreement and the Reciprocal Visa Abolition Agreement. The Agreements were signed by Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Guyana and Chile: Hon. Carl B. Greenidge and Hon. Heraldo Muñoz at El Palacio de la Moneda in Santiago on October 24, 2016.
In response to an invitation by Her Excellency Michelle Bachelet, His Excellency David Granger paid an official visit to the Republic of Chile on October 24-25, 2016. During the visit bilateral talks were held between the two presidents on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda. These included collaboration in the area of disaster risk management, language training, trade and investment, mining and geological mapping, climate change mitigation and telecommunications.
Two agreements were also signed. One on the Open Skies/ Air Services and the other on the Reciprocal Visa Abolition for holders of ordinary passports.
His Excellency David Granger also met with officials from the mining, telecommunications and maritime sector.
Accompanying the President were Honorable Carl Greenidge, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Audrey Waddell, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. William Cox, Political Advisor to the President and Miss Sondra Cheong, Foreign Service Officer II.
