CHAUFFEUR/OFFICE ASSISTANT GUYANA CONSULATE GENERAL IN BARBADOS

The Guyana Consulate General in Barbados seeks a proactive, reliable and dedicated individual to join our esteemed team and fill the post of Chauffeur/Office Assistant.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Transport the Consul General and family, visiting officials/functionaries of the Government of Guyana, and authorized staff/personnel to various destinations in a safe and courteous manner
  • Check the safety of the Consulate’s vehicles to ensure roadworthiness (ensure the routine servicing schedule of vehicles, update of insurance and registration procedures); ensure the vehicles are kept clean at all times, mechanically sound and ready to drive at all times
  • Maintain vehicle log containing mileage, location, travel time, gas purchases and service entries;
  • Assist with office tasks, make miscellaneous purchases of office supplies, and ensure the timely dispatch/delivery and collection of mail and other documents.
  • Navigate Barbados roads with ease, ensuring timely arrivals and departures, providing courteous and professional assistance to the Guyana Consulate and its staff/guests/visitors
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Carry out any other office support duties when required

Requirements:

  • Valid ID and Barbados Driver's License
  • Residency Status in Barbados
  • Valid Police Clearance/Certificate of Character
  • Should be the owner of a Motor Vehicle
  • Physically fit/good day and night vision
  • Minimum of three (3) CXC subjects (Including Mathematics and English)
  • Two (2) references
  • At least five years of driving experience in Barbados
  • 2 to 3 years work experience in a similar position would be an added advantage
  • Familiarity with the addresses/locations of government ministries, agencies, organisations and diplomatic missions in Barbados
  • Knowledge of the streets, highways, byways, and general layout of Barbados
  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime (weekends, holidays and on-call basis)
  • Must be team-oriented, punctual, honest, reliable and trustworthy
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be smartly attired at all times on the job and possess a strong sense of professionalism
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise work
