Minister Hugh Hilton Todd participated in a meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Algeria, the Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, and Slovenia at the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) in New York.

The Ministers, representing the Incoming 5 members of the Security Council had a fruitful exchange of views on their respective priorities in the Security Council, and explored possibilities of stronger cooperation to advance the work of the Security Council during their tenure.

Additionally, the Ministers welcomed the strengthened role of the E10 which has evolved in recent years and expressed their willingness to further build on these achievements during their tenure.

The Foreign Ministers also acknowledged the importance of transparency and accountability of the Security Council as the guardian of international peace and security.

The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism, with the United Nations at its core, and agreed on the need to rebuild trust in the Security Council's work, including by expanding further avenues for dialogue and mutual understanding.
