Thank you, President,

I also thank USG Di Carlo and ASG Msuya for their sobering briefings and acknowledge the presence of H.E. Ms. Mariana Betsa, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Guyana regrets that the Council is once again meeting to address a further intensification in this ongoing armed conflict amidst talks of a possible ceasefire.

Thank you, Mr. President,
I thank High Commissioner Grandi for today's briefing and his frank assessment of the ongoing displacement crisis.

Guyana supports the critical work of the UN Refugee Agency and commends High Commissioner Grandi and his team for continuing to provide life-saving assistance and protection to millions of displaced people around the world, despite the growing number of challenges.

Mr. President,

I deliver this statement on behalf of the delegations of Slovenia and Guyana in our capacity as informal co-focal points on conflict and hunger in the Security Council.

Colleagues, South Sudan is experiencing a convergence of crises - the recent escalation of political tensions and violence, the fragility of the Peace Agreement, decreased humanitarian funding, relentless climate shocks, an economic recession, a persistent health catastrophe and growing food insecurity.

The A3+ is concerned about the military escalations by Israel in Syria, which are taking place at a critical period in Syria’s history and exacerbate the already fragile situation in the country.
